Chevy Confirms Colorado Coming Stateside

Perhaps you've heard the all-new Chevrolet Colorado recently launched in Thailand. After receiving better-than-expected feedback, the American automaker has decided to also bring a variant to the U.S.

At the beginning of the South East Asian kick-off, Chris Perry, VP, Global Marketing & Strategy, Chevrolet, reported, "The new Chevrolet Colorado is generating a lot of excitement...We think the design, capability and fuel efficiency of the new Colorado will make it attractive to U.S. customers."1

How does the all-new Chevy Colorado pickup differ from previous iterations we've seen grace U.S. showroom floors, over the past seven years? The biggest two differences, which were also perhaps also the most well received during the Thai launch, are advanced capabilities and efficiencies.

Worried people in Thailand have different driving needs than drivers in the Poconos area? You bet they do! But, don't worry; Chevy has taken that into account. While the all-new Chevy Colorado truck will be built on the same savvy, new architecture developed by GM do Brazil, plans are in place to modify the trucks to drivers' need at a local level.... That's why we previously said, "...the American automaker has decided to bring a variant to the U.S..."2 It  will not be the same exact truck.

Brad Merkl, Global Vehicle Line Executive, explains that to tailor the truck for Thailand, "Chevrolet Chief Engineer Roberto Rempei and his team lived in Thailand during the Colorado's development. They immersed themselves in the highly competitive truck market and observed how the Thai people use their vehicle and the driving conditions they experience."1 A similar approach will be taken to ensure the new Chevy Colorado is just an equally warm welcome, here in the U.S.
